Isontina Ambiente

Isontina Ambiente is the new name of Ambiente Newco srl, which took over all legal relationships starting from 2.12.2013.

Isontina Ambiente was born as Ambiente Newco on January 1, 2011, following the competitive procedure that IRIS – Isontina Reti Integrate e Servizi conducted for the sale of the energy branches, resulting in the reorganization of activities related to the management of local public services in the environmental field.

At the same time as the operation to change its name in December 2013, Isontina Ambiente, which until that date was entirely controlled by IRIS, became 100% owned by the 25 municipalities of the province of Gorizia.
The company manages contracts for environmental services, namely the collection, transport, and disposal of municipal solid waste and similar waste, urban cleaning, and the management of disposal and treatment plants, carried out in twenty-five municipalities of the province of Gorizia (Capriva, Cormons, Doberdò del Lago, Dolegna del Collio, Farra d’Isonzo, Fogliano-Redipuglia, Gorizia, Gradisca d’Isonzo, Grado, Mariano del Friuli, Medea, Moraro, Monfalcone, Mossa, Romans d’Isonzo, Ronchi dei Legionari, Sagrado, San Lorenzo Isontino, San Canzian d’Isonzo, San Floriano del Collio, San Pier d’Isonzo, Savogna d’Isonzo, Staranzano, Turriaco, and Villesse) and in three municipalities of the province of Trieste (Duino - Aurisina, Sgonico, Monrupino).

Isontina Ambiente carries out the public environmental management service mainly through the following activities:

• Collection and transport of MSW (of recyclable fractions and residual dry waste)
• Treatment of organic waste (FORSU and green) through the management of its own composting plant in Moraro.
• Treatment of the recyclable dry fraction (paper/cardboard and plastic/cans) at the sorting plant in Moraro (owned by the company).
• Start of disposal of the residual dry fraction of waste at the waste-to-energy plant in Trieste.
• Management of municipal and/or inter-municipal collection centers and ecological islands.
• Accessory activities of urban cleaning (sweeping, emptying street bins, emergency intervention).

The main focus of Isontina Ambiente in the provision of services is directed towards stakeholders, particularly citizens, whose satisfaction also depends on that of the municipalities and control bodies.

Being waste management an essential public service, for Isontina Ambiente the creation of value and the pursuit of profit take a back seat to the quality and the methods with which it is carried out, which must absolutely comply with what is prescribed by the regulations and regional planning, as well as with what is requested by the member municipalities benefiting from the service.
