Isa BookLoop
In the heart of the year that sees Gorizia and Nova Gorica as European Capital of Culture, ISA – Isontina Ambiente presents Book Loop, an innovative book sharing project that combines social, cultural, and environmental impact supported by Comieco and sponsored by GO!2025 and the Municipality of Gorizia.
Book Loop transforms reading into an act of circular economy through the installation of 25 "book houses" in public and high-traffic areas. The mechanism is as simple as it is effective: citizens can take or leave a book, giving new life to stories and ideas that would otherwise remain forgotten.
The project arises from the observation of the Gorizia territory, where there was a lack of a structured book sharing initiative. Book Loop responds to this need by bringing a powerful message to places of aggregation and culture: culture is recycled, shared, and multiplied.
What makes the project even more virtuous is the origin of the first books: a significant portion of the volumes comes from the ISA Reuse Centers, where items in good condition find a second life. Books can also be saved from waste and become useful again, generating culture instead of refuse.
The boxes, made of eco-sustainable materials and designed to withstand the test of time, will be placed in sheltered and easily accessible locations. The exchange system is designed to be self-sustaining, transforming into a permanent network intended to grow naturally.
Bilingual communication (Italian/Slovenian) enhances the cross-border context of the project, which is made known to the public through social media, promotional initiatives, and a campaign that makes the circulation of books visible and participatory.
Book Loop is a free initiative open to everyone, aimed at involving citizens, tourists, schools, institutions, and associations. A network that grows with readers, a simple gesture for a culture that becomes participation, sustainability, community.
