Waste and reference regulations

Each of us can be a protagonist in the defense of the environment we live in: it is enough (even if a bit challenging...) to pay attention to a series of gestures in our daily lives that we give little importance to but that can contribute to the well-being of all.
Inspired by this simple concept, the Ronchi decree came into force in 1997: this decree, which incorporates a series of European directives on environmental matters, regulates waste management throughout Italian territory.

The underlying principle reiterated by the Ronchi decree states that "the polluter pays."

To solve the waste problem, the decree provides for a series of interventions aimed primarily at containing waste production; the goal is to intercept as much as possible the fractions intended for recovery and recycling, thus sending to the waste-to-energy plants and subsequent landfill disposal only the fractions that cannot be reintegrated into the production cycle.

Based on what is provided by the Ronchi decree, the Province of Gorizia, in compliance with the regulations set forth by the Region, has developed its own implementation program for waste management.

Taking into account the situation of the waste management facilities available in the Isontino area, the strategic objectives identified by the Province of Gorizia are as follows:

  • the reduction of waste production;
  • the creation of a provincial system, (also with interprovincial collaborations) capable of satisfying the principles of self-sufficiency regarding production and complementarity among the various recovery and disposal plants;
  • the start of separate waste collection with the door-to-door home system leads to the improvement of percentage performance.
