Waste classification
Waste is classified, according to origin, into urban waste and special waste, and, according to hazardous characteristics, into hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste.
They are urban waste:

domestic waste, including bulky items, coming from premises and places used for residential purposes;

non-hazardous waste coming from premises and places used for purposes other than those mentioned in the previous point, assimilated to urban waste by quality and quantity as indicated by the municipal regulation;
- the waste coming from street sweeping;
- waste of any nature or origin lying on public roads and areas or on private roads and areas subject to public use or on beaches and banks of watercourses;
- vegetable waste from green areas such as gardens, parks, and cemetery areas;
- waste from exhumations and disinterments, as well as other waste from cemetery activities other than those referred to in numbers 1, 2, 3.
They are special waste:

waste from agricultural and agro-industrial activities;

the waste resulting from demolition and construction activities, as well as hazardous waste arising from excavation activities;
- industrial processing waste;
- the waste from artisanal processing;
- waste from commercial activities;
- waste from service activities;
- waste resulting from waste recovery and disposal activities, sludge produced from water purification and other water treatment processes and from wastewater treatment and from gas scrubbing;
- waste resulting from healthcare activities;
- the deteriorated and obsolete machinery and equipment;
- motor vehicles, trailers and similar items that are out of service and their parts.
ISONTINA AMBIENTE in the province of Gorizia is specifically engaged in the collection of municipal solid waste (MSW) produced by households and their management.
ISONTINA AMBIENTE also handles the removal of special waste similar to urban waste, that is, waste produced by companies that, according to the determination of individual municipal regulations, is assimilated in terms of quantity and quality to MSW.
